The Office Jam: Dana Sui Free Sets the Tone

The Office Jam is back, and this time Dana Sui Free brought a whole different energy to the room. BASE Music's fortnightly jam night has quickly become one of the most popular events in our community, and nights like this one are exactly why.

The format is always the same, and that's the beauty of it. The house band opens the night, the floor opens up, and from there it's anyone's game.

The house band kicked things off with their usual lineup, Alex Sullivan (Almost Toast), Jarrah Murray (Thunderfox), and Lachlan Fitzgerald (North of Quasi). Three players who know how to set the tone without making it about themselves, which is exactly what a jam night needs from its opening set.

Dana Sui Free took it from there as special guest host, steering the night with a natural ease that kept the energy moving. Whether people were jumping up for the first time or getting back on stage for another round, the room stayed open and welcoming all night.

That's the thing about The Office Jam. It's not about being polished. It's about showing up, picking up an instrument, and playing with whoever else is in the room. Some nights you get incredible moments. Some nights you get gloriously messy ones. Both are the point.

The Office Jam runs every fortnight at BASE Music Studios in Crows Nest. The next one features Jazzy Gold as special guest host on August 26. Whether you're a seasoned player or you've never jammed with strangers before, you're welcome.
